About Lesson
Preview and Question: Begin by previewing the material (using the THIEVES method – Title, Headings, Introduction, Every First Sentence in a Paragraph, Visuals and Vocabulary, End-of-chapter Questions, Summary), then form questions to direct your reading.
Read, Reflect, Recite, and Review: As you read, pull together the material to reflect and make connections. Reciting or teaching it aloud solidifies understanding and retention, and reviewing reinforces memory.
Activity:
Choose a text and practice the PQ4R method. Use THIEVES to preview, then create a list of questions before you read. Recite what you’ve learnt aloud, and review it the next day to reinforce your retention.
